Westgate Concert Band is a community symphonic wind ensemble comprising woodwind, brass & percussion. Rehearses Saturday 9AM-12PM @Braybrook College.
The band was formed in 1979 by Derek Humphrey and Roy Hamilton to extend young musicians in Melbourne's west by providing opportunities to perform music at an advanced level. Derek retired from musical direction of the band in 1994. Roy is now assisted in this task by Andrew Derrett and Daniel Modica.
As a community band, Westgate continues to offer its members the opportunity to perform challenging music in a range of styles. The band gives 3-4 major concerts a year and takes part in an annual Festival of Bands.
